Getting Started with Blogging
Over a decade ago I started an IT job that required some programming. At that point I was a self-taught programmer and struggled with the first few large projects. To learn more, I read blogs, watched videos, read books, and even took professional development courses through a University earning a couple of web development certificates. Since then, I've earned a bachelor's degree and I'm working on my master's in computer science. I've also successfully created and maintained several large projects for work. I still spend 99% of my time learning on the job, in school, and in every spare moment I can find.
When getting started, I saw several sources that suggested blogging for career development. That sounded like an excellent goal, but the problem was I felt like I knew next to nothing. But now, more than a handful of years later, I have more confidence in what I do and thought it would be a great time to start blogging.
I was not sure where to get started, so I found a couple short courses on LinkedIn Learning about blogging, which I enjoyed (I've shared those below). Since that time I've written several blog posts, edited them repeatedly, and ultimately deleted them. Getting started is harder than I thought.
Even though it has been a rough start, I hope to find my voice and share just for the enjoyment of writing and sharing.
Have you thought about starting a blog, or already have one? Do you have any suggestions for getting started?
LinkedIn Learning courses I found valuable:

- What's the So What: Writing Clearly for a Business Audience (created in 2022) (30 minutes)
